Summary

English: Difficult gate on Gilmonby bridleway The gate was difficult to open more than a few inches in the snow, and whilst that few inches was fine for the dog, manoeuvring Nordic skis round the corner was a lot harder with the proximity of the drystone wall on the right to the small opening. This side of the gate is rough grazing with lots of soft rush - unconsolidated snow made the going awkward in places. Through the gate, the improved pasture made for a better base and the skiing was a lot more pleasant down to the Sleightholme road. |
