Um das feine Relief derRückenmuskeln zu verstehen,ist eine genaue Kenntniss der-selben nöthig; für unsere Zweckegenügt es, darauf aufmerksamzu machen, dass die meistenMuskeln zum Schulterblatt undvon diesem zur Schulter ziehen,dass sich aber der grosse Ka-puzenmuskel und der breiteRückenmuskel jederseits dar-über hinlegen, so dass sich anihnen ausser ihren eigenen auchdie Bewegungen der darunterliegenden Schulterblattmuskelngewissermassen verschleiert inwechselvollem Spiele markiren. Da die Muskeln von derMitte nach rechts und linksverlaufen, so wird sich zwischenden Muskelbäuchen bei guterEntwicklung eine Rinne bilden,die um so tiefer wird, je stärkerdie Schultern nach hinten ge-zogen werden. Im Kreuz läuftdiese Rinne flach aus, weil hierdas knöcherne Gerüst der Hautsich anlegt. Das Relief des Rückens wird vollendet durch die Hautmit ihrem Fettpolster.
