408 Microspermae. — Orchidaceae. b) Epiphytische Orchidaceen. Solche fehlen in keiner Formation. Zwar sind sie besonders reichlich in den Kronen der Regenwaldbäume und auf den Bäumen und Sträuchern der Nebelwälder: aber sie kommen auch in Trockenwäldern und selbst in Busch- gehölzen der Steppe vereinzelt vor. Auch auf den Affenbrot- bäumen findet man nicht selten ganze Klumpen epiphyti- scher Orchidaceen, insbesondere Ansellia africana. Zu den einzelnen Gattungen ist folgendes zu be- merken: Liparis Rieh. Die meisten Arten dieser in Malagassien und Indien reicher als in Afrika vertretenen Gattung sind terrest- risch; aber L. tridens Krzl. aus dem Regen- wald von Lolodorf in Kamerun und die hier abgebildete L. epipJiy- tica Schltr. (Fig. 286) vom Sanga-Fluß bei Nkundi in Kamerun wachsen mit Poly- stachya, Angraecuui und Farnen epiphy- tisch. Oberonia brcvi- folia Lindl. ist ein

Es findet sich ziemlich häufig auf Baumfarnen im Regenwald von Ostusambara, auf den Comoren und auf den Maskarenen sowie im Monsungebiet. Eine ähnliche Pflanze kommt auf St. Thomas vor.
