Description
Deutsch: Das Kirchenbuch der Evangelischen Stadtkirche zu Wanfried im nordhessischen Werra-Meißner-Kreis berichtet von Pfarrer Johannes Gleim (* 1653; † 1697), dass er sich im „Pestjahr“ 1682 hingebungsvoll um die Menschen in seiner Gemeinde kümmerte und unermüdlich half. In jenem Jahr musste er über 300 Menschen beerdigen. Alle wurden außerhalb der Stadt auf dem „Pestacker“ begraben. Unter ihnen war auch sein Freund, der Kantor Jakob Faber. Ihm zu Ehren und allen anderen zum Gedenken pflanzte Gleim im Jahr 1683 einen Lindenzweig auf sein Grab, der in den vergangenen Jahrhunderten zu einem stattlichen Baum emporgewachsen ist und mit seinem Namen „Pestlinde“ an das große Sterben erinnert. Am 21. Juli 1936 wurde die Pestlinde mit der Nummer ND 636.510 zu einem Naturdenkmal erklärt.
