- dazu günstiger sein als diese, in der die Gegensätze der Parteien gegenüber der großen gemeinsamen Gefahr in den Hintergrund getreten sind, und in der alles dazu drängt, daß sich die bisher abseits stehende sozialistische Partei unter der einigenden Macht der Ereignisse in eine soziale Reformpartei umwandelt. Als vor nunmehr fünfzig Jahren der deutsche Sozialismus zum erstenmal sein Banner entfaltete, da war es Ferdinand Lassalle, der Schüler des deutschen Idealismus, der das Programm eines sozialen Staates entwarf, das in allem Wesentlichen mit den Gedanken übereinstimmte, die dereinst Fichte in seinem Naturrecht entwickelt hatte. Jahrzehntelang ist dann dieser Staatssozialismus von dem internationalen Kommunismus abgelöst worden, der den Staat vernichten wollte, um das Phantom einer auf den Egoismus gegründeten Gesellschaft an seine Stelle zu setzen. Der Tag scheint gekommen, wo diese Bewegung wieder zu ihren Anfängen zurücklenkt und so auch hier der deutsche Idealismus über den auf die Egoismusmoral der Franzosen zurückgehenden Kommunismus den Sieg davonträgt. Die zwei Urrechte, die Fichte von seinem Zukunftsstaat fordert: das Recht auf Arbeit und das Recht auf Existenz für jeden, sie sind für den sozialen Staat noch heute Forderungen geblieben. Freilich aber sind diese beiden Rechte untrennbar an zwei Pflichten gebunden: an die Pflicht zu arbeiten, und an die Pflicht, nicht für sich selbst, sondern für die Gemeinschaft zu leben!
