SS Rubiaceae. (K. Schumann.' Gr. weit hervorragend, behaart, zugespitzt. Beeren kugelig, lederartig. — Verzweigte, sparrige Sträucher mit dünn lederartigen B. und breiten, lang zugespitzten, abfälligen Nebenb. Bl. klein, gehuschelt, sitzend, mit freien Bracteolen; weiß, wohlriechend. 2 Arten wachsen im tropischen Afrika und 4 in Madagaskar. — C. thflora (Schum.) K. Seh. (Fig. 31 F, G) (C. africana Benth.) ist ein weichhaariger, etwas kletternder Strauch, der durch das ganze tropische Afrika von der Ost- bis zur Westküste verbreitet zu sein scheint.

Fr. lederartig, mit zerklüftetem Nährgewebe. — Kahle Slräucher mit krautigen B. und sehr kurzen, interpetiolaren Xebenb. Bl. klein, gehuschelt, von einem becherförmig verbundenen und einem freien Bracteolenpaare gestützt. 4—ö Arten im östhchen, tropischen Afrika und auf den Comoren. — P. Schweinfurlhii Hiern aus dem Gebiete des weißen Nils ist ein 6—7 m hoher Strauch. 2 02. Octotropis Bedd. Kelch kurz özähnig, im Innern kalil. Blkr. glockenförmig, mit zottigem Schlünde. Stb. am Saume der Röhre angeheftet, hervorragend. Frkn, 1 fächerig, mit I—2 Sa.: Gr. kräftig, behaart, Skanlig, in 2 kahle Äste gespalten. Fr. lederartig, Isamis, mit gleichförmigem Nährgewebe.
