"There is talk about leaving. Maybe after this battle was over. I got four Christmas packages the other day. This place sure looks different with all the new buildings going up all over the place. Some of the army boys are here now. Us and the 5th defense are the only Marines left around these parts now. We haven't had any mail for over a week on account of the sea battles around here. The food is getting better. We have good potatoes every day now. But boy is it hot here. The Seabees have built showers too. over..." From the James P.
