Description

Neste momento, terá início o ato cívico-militar em comemoração ao septuagésimo oitavo aniversário do término da segunda guerra mundial, como ato de reverência à memória dos que participaram do maior conflito bélico do século 20, em defesa da democracia e da liberdade. O monumento nacional aos mortos da Segunda Guerra Mundial foi idealizado pelo Marechal Mascarenhas de Moraes, logo após o término da guerra. Foi projetado pelos arquitetos Marcos Konder Netto e Hélio Ribas Marinho.

Sua construção foi iniciada em 1957 e a inauguração se deu em 1960.
