Italiano: Il microbiota intestinale, di dimensioni incomparabilmente maggiori del microbiota polmonare, può influenzare il tratto respiratorio inferiore sia direttamente, attraverso la microaspirazione, sia indirettamente, attraverso la modulazione della risposta immunitaria per effetto della produzione di metaboliti batterici e della loro interazione con il cellule infiammatorie dell'ospite. Anche l'inalazione di agenti esterni è una via verso la colonizzazione polmonare e dipenderà, così come la colonizzazione del tratto intestinale, da fattori locali, come la tensione dell'ossigeno, il pH dei tessuti, la perfusione sanguigna, la concentrazione di nutrienti, il corretto trasporto mucociliare e la distruzione dell'architettura polmonare. |
