| Description |
La Moderna Apicultura (C/ Doctor Esquerdo, 47) es una tienda de miel y de útiles para la apicultura, fue inaugurada por Alfonso XIII en 1919. La bella portada, fue realizada en 1919 por el arquitecto Secundino Zuazo Se llama "La Moderna" porque el modernismo estaba de moda cuando se creo la tienda Edificio que mando construtir Don Antonio Garay de viviendas, y en el instalo una empresa, una Fábrica de Colmenas, negocio que en aquel momento fue una novedad, logrando vender a los apicultores de toda España, y quizá fuera de ella. Fue un éxito. Originariamente contaba con unas naves en la parte trasera donde se almacenaba la maquinaria y útiles relacionados con la obtención de la miel. La tienda conserva unas vidrieras de Maumejean, los tanques de acero originales y un curioso cuadro con una colmena. Dice Aurora, actual dueña y una verdadera experta en el producto que vende, que la miel que se cosecha en España es la mejor que existe, porque en nuestra tierra hay plantas medicinales cuyos beneficiosos efectos pasan a la miel.
