Title
English: Detail of Seattle Theatre exterior, Seattle, circa 1926
Description
English: This image of the Seattle Theatre (later the Paramount Theatre) at 9th Avenue and Pine Street is a close-up of the roof line, highlighting the decorative architectural details. Opened on March 1, 1928, the building was designed as a combination of theater, commercial, and residential spaces, lavishly decorated in the Beaux Arts style. The ornate architectural cut cast stone decoration on the building exterior was fabricated by the Pacific Stone Company of Seattle at their Ballard facility on Leary Way and 8th Avenue NW.

Pacific Stone Company was founded by the Swartz brothers in Seattle around 1920. The company produced architectural cast stone for use in construction and trim of buildings. As Seattle grew, the company prospered, until the Great Depression of the 1930s. Though the company remained in business until around 1938, Pacific Stone's last major contract was the 24-story Exchange Building, completed in 1930.
