Summary
[edit]DescriptionDetail - Cape and Processional Cross (3415424094).jpg |
If one views this image in the "original" or "large" size, it should be possible to make out the incised images and decorative work on the larger of the two crosses. I believe the image at the center of the cross depicts the Virgin Mary and Jesus. Angels appear on the vertical bars that extend from each side of the cross. One feature that charmed me was the pair of birds perched on the fretwork about a quarter of the way from the top of the cross. This photo also shows details of the marvelous decorative metalwork attached to the cape our host donned for us. At the Monastery of Na’akuto La’ab near Lalibela, Ethiopia. |
