English: Deserted village Only a few fragments remain here of the village of High Binn which in the late 19th century housed over 500 people in 95, mainly 2-roomed, houses. They were the workers and their families from the shale mines driven into the Binn Hill and the shale-oil works in Burntisland. (The TV transmitter mast of Craigkelly on Binn Hill, which serves Edinburgh and parts of Fife, can be seen in the background.) |
