22 ALLEN L. WOOD, WHOLESALE GROWER, CATALOGUE. GRHPES. There is scarcely a yard so small, either in country or city, that room for one to a dozen or more grapevines cannot be found. They do admirably trained up to the side of any building, or along the garden fences, occupying but little room and furnishing an abundance of the healthiest of fruit. Our stock of two year Grapevines was never finer, and we can quote you a very low rate on any variety by the thousand. Campbell's Early. Its strong, hardy, vigorous growth; thick, heavy, per- fectly healthy fo- liage ; very early ripening and its abundant bearing of large and hand- some clusters of excellent quality, combined with, the most remark- able keeping and shipping qualities form a combina- tion unequalled by no othergrape. Its period of full maturity is from the middle to the last of August, according to the season, ripening vdth Moore's Early, but unlike that variety, it has kept sound and perfect, botk on and off the vine, for weeks after Moore's Early was decayed and gone. In dessert quality it is unrivaled by any of our present list of first early market grapes. It is, both as to cluster and berry, of large size, of a glossy black color, with a beau- tiful blue bloom ; pulp sweet and juicy ; free from foxiness ; seeds small, few in number and part readily from the pulp. Price 15c. each, ;1.50 per doz., $10 per 100. Hectar.—Has more good qualities for the home garden than any other variety we know, of recent introduction. Being so remarkably free from mildew and rot, it is not easily effected by unfavorable climatic conditions. It ripens with Moore's Early, and can be left hanging to the vine till frozen without its quality being the least impaired—in fact improves every day. A good strong grower and large annual cropper. The fruit is black, with heavy blue bloom ; quality the very best; pulp tender and skin tough, and will hang a long time after gathering without dropping from the bunch. We feel certain there is no variety that, in all sections of the country, will give as good satisfaction. Price 15c. each, ^;i.50per doz., $10 per lOO.
