It is believed that this is true representation of Dermot, taken from life. Source: W.R. Wilde (d. 1876), "A Descriptive Catalogue of the Antiquities in the Museum of the Royal Irish Academy", Vol. 1 (Dublin & London, 1863), p. 310. This is a Wood Engraving of an illustration that appeared in a manuscript of one of Gerald de Barry's works. [Gerald de Barry is also called Giraldus Cambrensis or Gerald of Wales]. The original is in colour. |
