Description
English: Contrasts of Steam with Diesel at Derby Station.
View SE, towards the Derby Railway Works and main lines to Nottingham, Leicester and London, also Birmingham and Bristol: ex-Midland major centre, seen from the main Up platform. Left to right are:- BR Standard 2MT 2-6-0 No. 78064 (built 12/58, withdrawn 11/66); Stanier/Ivatt 5MT 4-6-0 No. 44766 (built 1/47, fitted with double chimney and roller-bearings, withdrawn 8/67); BR-Sulzer Type 2 1,250hp Bo-Bo Diesel No. D7585 (later 25.235), which was built 2/64, withdrawn 3/85, dumped but eventually purchased in 4/90 by the Scottish Railway Preservation Society and is now on the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway.
