Description
Čeština: Vykolejení posledních tří vagónů spěšného vlaku z Vídně do Prahy, ke kterému došlo mezi Úvaly a Běchovicemi 3. února 1869. Z 36 lidí jich 8 utrpělo drobná zranění, 2 byli vážně zraněni a průvodčí pan Damšina následně na následky zranění zemřel. Poměrně malý počet zraněných byl považován za velké štěstí vzhledem k tomu, že vozy spadly ze zvýšeného valu. Nehodu pravděpodobně způsobily shnilé pražce, které neudržely koleje na místě, a možná také rychlost strojvedoucího, aby napravil zpoždění. Malíř místo navštívil následující den po neštěstí. English: Derailment of the last three cars of an express train from Vienna to Prague that occurred between Úvaly and Běchovice on February 3, 1869. Out of 36 people on board, 8 had small injuries, 2 were seriously wounded and conductor Mr. Damšina died subsequently of his injuries. The relatively small number of casualties were considered a big luck given that the cars fell from an elevated rampart. The accident was probably caused by rotten ties that could not hold the tracks in place, and possibly also by speeding of the driver to make up for a delay. The painter visited the site the following day after the disaster. (Source: the same issue, page 60)
