English: Paul Horowitz, a career member of the U.S. Department of State Senior Foreign Service, assumed his duties as Deputy Consul General at U.S. Consulate Hong Kong and Macau in June 2019. Prior to this, he served as a Senior Advisor for the Indo-Pacific Region, Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs in 2018. He also served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the American Embassy in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, from 2015-2018. From 2012-2014, he served as a Deputy Executive Secretary and Director of the Executive Secretariat Staff for two Secretaries of State, where he oversaw the preparation of briefing materials for Department leaders, and led several overseas visits by the Secretary covering five continents. Mr. Horowitz has spent much of his career in East Asia, focused primarily on economic and trade issues, including assignments in Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing, and Hong Kong. He speaks Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, and Bosnian. A graduate of Occidental College in Los Angeles, he also has master degrees from Columbia University in New York City and the National War College at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.
