Description

This is a shot of the bridge on the NOAA ship Oscar Dyson as we were departing the dock in Kodiak. There are seven in the science party on this cruise and, unlike on the Healy, this cruise is dedicated to ice seal research and we will be determining where the ship goes when. That should give us a much better chance of catching seals on this cruise.

But, that's a few days off as we still have to make it to Unimak Pass and then another few days before we reach the ice edge. Also, unlike the Healy, the Dyson is not an ice-breaker and we will not be going into anything denser than 3/10ths ice coverage.
