Description

This is an early 1900s, wooden, narrow-gauge box car on display at the Ridgway Railroad Museum in Ridgway, Colorado, USA.

Info. from museum signage: "This car was built in 1904 by American Car and Foundry in St. Louis, Missouri for the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. It was one of 750 such cars built. It was built to haul ore and other miscellaneous commodities on the narrow gauge lines of the D&RG and Rio Grande Southern and was used in the Ridgway area until 1953. It was rebuilt at Alamosa in 1926. It had new roof beams, a new 'Murphy' roof, and body bolsters applied. It the summer of 2000 it was acquired by the Ridgway Railroad Museum and moved back to Ridgway from Colona where we started its restoration."
