Description
English: 1929 Dennis/Morris Motor Pump VR 3001 : This appliance, with Dennis chassis and John Morris & Sons bodywork, was delivered to the Manchester Fire Brigade on 11th September 1929 as Motor Pump No. 15, and cost £1240. It has a 4-cylinder, 70bhp White and Poppe petrol engine and a rear-mounted 600 galls/min (2724 l/min) Dennis-Tamini turbine pump, with Morris patent delivery valves. The Braidwood-style bodywork, with accommodation for up to ten men, carries either a 60ft (18m) Morris wheeled escape, or a 35ft (11m) extension ladder. The original solid tyres were replaced by pneumatics in 1932. Originally serving at London Road fire station, it was sold by the National Fire Service to Metrovick Works Fire Brigade, Trafford Park in 1948.
