Description

This was one of the stabling areas owned by the well known firm of 'Skinners' who at one time owned around half of all the buildings in Western Road. My father, who was born in nearby Alexandra Road and worked in Western Road as a boy, told me about a big underground stable in this area, which was used by 'Skinners' as a hospital for sick horses.

It would be interesting to know more about it and whether it was filled in or perhaps still exixts and is covered over.
