Português: Demolições para abertura da Avenida Zarco.

Fotografia de 1937 (c.). Monumento a João Gonçalves Zarco, escultura de Francisco Franco, projeto iniciado em 1918 e inaugurado a 28 de maio de 1934; ao fundo no novo edifício da Junta Geral, o antigo Pavilhão Paris ou Circo Paris, ainda não demolido. Avenida Zarco, Funchal, ilha da Madeira.

As demolições apresentaram grande polémica na comunicação social do Funchal, pois foi demolida a parte da antiga Escola Médico-Cirurgica do Funchal e a antiga porta da Misericórdia do Funchal remontada na nova fachada virada à Avenida Zarco. O problema de dobrar a esquina ou não foi então chacota geral nos jornais.(Rui Carita)
