| Description |
English: Apparently built in 1886 but possibly older, this four-bay Colonial Revival-style house features a side gable roof, clapboard-clad exterior, six-over-one windows, unadorned wide overhanging eaves with dentils at the cornice, an asymmetrically placed front porch with doric columns, an asymmetrically placed front entrance door with decorative sidelights and a fanlight transom, a palladian window on the second floor of the north facade, a rusticated stone base, and a gabled rear wing. The house is one of the more humble surviving structures on Delaware Avenue, but demonstrates the variety of house types once present on the avenue, present even when it was better known for its ostentatious opulent industrialist mansions at the turn of the 20th Century. |
