English: Defensive Rampart at Cronk ny Merriu Cronk ny Merriu (Hill of the Dead) is not a burial mound but a defensive rampart. Behind it are the footings of a rectilinear structure. It was excavated about 50 years ago by Peter Gelling, and is thought to be Iron Age, with later Norse Period re-occupation. |
