English: Secretary of Defense William Cohen briefs reporters at the Pentagon on July 22, 1999, on a test of the DoD logistics system conducted the previous week to check for Y2K problems. The exercise included over 1,000 participants from the Defense Logistics Agency and all four armed services. It linked 22 sites across the United States and involved approximately 200 million lines of computer code. The test revealed only one failure, which has since been fixed. Cohen reported that as of today, 94 percent of all systems have been tested, fixed and tested again to ensure proper performance. Cohen said that all mission-critical systems will be ready before the new year. |
