English: U.S. Navy sailors and U.S. Army National Guard members load water and ice into a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter at Gulf Port International Airport in Biloxi, Miss., on Sept. 1, 2005. Department of Defense units are mobilized as part of Joint Task Force Katrina to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency's disaster-relief efforts in the Gulf Coast areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The airport is now one of the main staging areas for hurricane-relief efforts in Mississippi. The sailors are from the USS Bataan (LHD 5) that is operating in the Gulf of Mexico approximately 100 miles south of New Orleans, La., while the Guard members are from the Biloxi area. |
