Description
English: U.S. Navy sailors man the rails of the frigate USS Simpson (FFG-56) during its decommissioning ceremony at Naval Station Mayport, Florida (USA). Simpson was in service for 30 years and is the most recent U.S. Navy warship to sink an enemy vessel in action during an encounter with an Iranian gunboat in the Arabian Gulf on 18 April 1988. Simpson was also the last Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate in service with the U.S. Navy.
