A unit of measurement representing 10 percent of 1 meter. Equal to 10 centimeters in length. A Dec is referred to in general communication or description of any measurement in increments or fractions of 10 centimeters. Commonly used in construction for reference of measurements. A Dec can represent multiples of 10 centimetres in the case of portions of a meter. For example, 2 decs is equal to 20 centimeters, 6 decs is equal to 60 centimeters, 15 decs is equal to 1.5 meters, or a fraction of 10 centimeters, half a dec is equal to 5 centimeters, 2.5 decs is equal to 25 centimeters. The term is used in the sciences and general communication of portions or fractions of a meter when describing the length, height, or distance of something. |
