English: Death of Judge Hathaway. Hon. Joshua W. Hathaway, who was one of the Justices of the former District Court of this State, and afterwards on the Supreme Bench, died at his residence in this city, yesterday morning at two oclock. He was a native of Conway, N. H., entered Dartmouth College about 1816, but graduated at Bowdoin, in the same class with Judge Appleton of our city. He soon afterwards opened a law office at Bluehill, in Hancock county, from whence he removed to Ellsworth and subsequently to this city. He was a member of the State Senate from Hancock county one or two years, was appointed a Justice of the District Court about 1845, and at the abolition of that Court was placed on the bench of the Suprema Court by Governor Hubbard. He was a man of learning and ability, and made a good and popular Judge. In his domestic relations no man was kinder or more lamented The bar will to-day take suitable notice of his decease. The Court adjourned to three o'clock this afternoon, when the death of Judge Hathaway will be announced.
