Description
English: After last year’s historical deluge, Death Valley National Park, renowned for its extreme heat and arid landscape, recently gone through an unusually heavy rainfall episode. The rainwater transformed parts of the park into temporary lakes, allowing adventurous kayakers to paddle through the usually dry landscape of the park. The event showcases the dynamic nature of this desertic environment and provides a unique recreational opportunity amidst the typically harsh conditions of Death Valley. This image of Badwater Basin was acquired on 8 March by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites. The Copernicus Sentinel satellites provide valuable data for identifying and delineating the extent of flooded areas after heavy rainfall.
