| Description |
English: Dead railway by Douglas Water Now where only sheep and occasional ramblers wander, the last passenger trains ran along this former railway between Lanark and Muirkirk in October 1964. Less than four years later, in January 1968, Douglas Colliery, near the village of Douglas Water, closed and even coal trains ceased to use the line. On the hill in the distance is Sandilands farm, which gave its name to the next station north. |
