Description

c/n unknown Built 1945. Served with 98 Squadron coded ‘VO-L’ between October 1950 and February 1951, when the unit converted to Vampire FB5s. Converted to TT.35 standard as a target tug in 1953. Allocated to No.5 Civilian Anti-Aircraft Co-operation Unit (CAACU) based at Llanbedr and remained with the unit until January 1958 when she moved to RAF Woodvale. She then flew for all the based units including the Temperature and Humidity (THUM) Flight. In April 1959 she performed the last THUM Mosquito flight, after which she was withdrawn from use and allocated as a museum airframe with the Air Historical Branch. Between 1967 and 1975 she was at RAF Colerne, then moving to Finningley and later Swinderby. In 1986 she moved to St Athan before finally coming to Hendon in 1992. She wears genuine 98 Squadron markings and was in the Milestone of Flight Hall from 2003, but is now on display in Hangar 5 which was previously known as the Bomber Command Hall. RAF Museum London.
