Description

c/n 6897. Built in 1945 for the RAF as 'NR833' this Rapide instead joined Iraqi Airways and was registered as 'YI-ABD'. Later registered in the UK as 'G-AKDW', she remained as such until 1958, when she moved to Algeria using the French identity 'F-BCDB'. Returning to France in 1970 she was stored at Nimes until 1979 when she moved to La Ferte Alais as a spares source for their airworthy Rapide. The fuselage was later cosmetically restored and went on display in the Aviodome Museum at Schipol Airport, Amsterdam. In 1994 she moved back to the UK and is now under restoration to airworthy condition at the de Havilland Aircraft Museum, Salisbury Hall, London Colney, UK.
