Description
English: c/n 6897.

Built by Brush in Loughborough during 1945, initially for the RAF as a Dominie with the serial 'NR833'. Not required for military service, she was delivered to Witney for civil conversion after which she became ‘YI-ABD’ with Iraqi Airways. Returning to the UK in August 1947, she was registered as 'G-AKDW' and operated in Scotland for British European Airways (BEA). Sold off in 1949, she became a communications aircraft for Short Brothers at Rochester where she remained until mid 1958 when she was exported to France via Belgium. Registered as ‘F-BCDB’, she operated in Algeria before returning to France in 1970. Stored at Nimes until 1979, she then moved to La Ferte Alais as a spares source for their airworthy Rapide. The fuselage was later cosmetically restored and went on display in the Aviodome Museum at Schipol Airport, Amsterdam. In 1994 she moved back to the UK and is now under restoration to airworthy condition at the de Havilland Aircraft Museum, Salisbury Hall, London Colney, UK.
