An excursion may be made from Fontainebleau to (8 ^.)the pretty old town of Moret, with a station on the Lyons MO RET 281 railway. The kings of France had a chateau at Moret, ofwhich the principal tower remains, dating from Louis leGros (1128). Henri IV. gave it to one of his mistresses,Jacqueline de Bueil, with the title of Comtesse de Moret.At either end of the principal street is a fine old gothicgateway, relic of the fortifications of Charles VII.
