OFFICERS in Wolverhampton enlisted the help of St Steven's Primary school to carry out an end of term litter pick at a notorious rubbish hot spot, on the same street as the school. PCSO Barnett and the children from St. Stephen's Primary school Woden Road, a problem litter hot spot, was cleaned up by local police officers and their mini tidy teams on Friday 19 July, before the school shuts for the summer break. A litter pick was suggested after pupils, parents, the police and local neighbourhood residents were fed up of the constant stream of junk making the area look unsightly. PCSO Louise Barnett said: "Our officers do a great deal of work within the community, where people take pride in the area that they work, live and go to school. "The recurring problem of litter that persisted on the street was not a reflection of this and everyone was glad to help put an end to it." |
