Vessels from Dynasty 19

This group of pottery has been categorised as 'group 4' by WMF Petrie, dating from Dynasty 19 (c. 1295-1186 BC)

Faience Bowl (Acc. 721)

This faience bowl has a diameter of 13cm, and shows two female sphinxes over a scene of fish and lotus flowers. It was excavated by Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie at Gurob in the Faiyum(Kom Medinet Ghurab) 1888, and donated to the Manchester Museum by Mr Jesse Haworth.

Faience Bowl (Acc. 722)

This faience bowl has a diameter of 9cm. It shows a seated monkey holding a rope that has been used to tie up a man in front of him. It was excavated by Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie at Gurob in the Faiyum(Kom Medinet Ghurab) in 1888, and donated to the Manchester Museum by Mr Jesse Haworth.


Blue Glass Flask (Acc. 727)

This blue glass pilgrim flask is 8.7cm tall and has a round body and one handle extending from the neck to the shoulder. The handle and the rim have twists of blue-violet and yellow glass around them.

It dates to Dynasty 18-19 and was collected by Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie in Gurob (Kom Medinet Ghurab) in the Faiyum in 1888. It was donated to the Manchester Museum by Mr Jesse Haworth.
