Great photo showing PC Andy Lake returning Charlie the Tortoise to his owner after coming across him while on patrol! On Tuesday 4 May, Police Constables Dan Hopkins and Andy Lake were on a routine patrol when they noticed a tortoise casually strolling along Biddings Lane in Bilston. The officers pulled over and quickly grabbed the tortoise before it got to the busy main road and took it to safety at nearby Bilston Station. During his adventure, Charlie the tortoise was checked over by a vet but when no microchip was found the officers decided to do door to door enquiries to try to track down his owners. Mr. and Mrs. Savage of Biddings Lane were delighted to be reunited with their 50 year old pet that they have owned for the past 30 years and were shocked that he had travelled around 1300 feet down the road. |
