A GROUP of officers from Solihull are saying 'au revoir' to the borough as they embark on a charity bike ride to Paris. A team of 34 police officers and staff members will be tackling the 400 mile journey from Solihull to Paris over a four day period to raise awareness for Harry Moseley's HelpHarryHelpOthers charity. Amongst the team of 25 cyclists and nine members of the support team are sergeants, police constables, members of staff from teams covering Solihull's cell block, front offices, as well as neighbourhood and response teams covering the borough and a retired superintendent. The team will set off from Solihull police station on Thursday 9 May and aim to arrive in the French capital four days later on Sunday 12 May. And members of the public will be able to track the team's journey as they upload photos of their journey to Facebook and Twitter. Commenting on the sponsored cycle Sergeant John Gravenall said: "Everyone taking part in the cycle has been inspired by Harry Moseley's story and we are all determined to ensure the fundraising Harry started continues in his memory. "Harry has made a difference to so many people's lives already and we are privileged to be given this opportunity to continue his good work." PC Carole Vickers added: "Harry's work is already well known across the West Midlands and on our journey throughout England, and then into France, we'll be sharing his inspirational story even further." "Knowing that the money we raise will go towards helping children like Harry who are diagnosed with cancer will be a huge motivation and make the 400 mile journey that little bit easier. "We'd like to thank businesses who have generously supported us as we prepare for the cycle, and everyone who has visited our website to sponsor us."
