[edit]David Wahlberg död. Kyrkoherden i Långsele David E. Wahlberg har avlidit 68 är gammal. Född i Ytterlännäs, Ångermanland, och student i Härnösand 1901 bedrev Wahlberg i unga år studier vid Augustana college och Chicago University, varefter han 1904 som Master of arts återvände till Sverige och verkade som läro-verkslärare i Stockholm och Norrland innan han blev publicist. Efter att 1910 ha startat Svenska notisbyrån, som senare uppgick i TT, var han medarbetare i Stockholms Dagblad och gjorde sig ett världsbekant namn som rapp presskommissarie vid Olympiska spelen i Stockholm 1912. Följande år blev han huvudredaktör efter frih. Dan Åkerhielm för Gefle-Posten och hade denna post till 1916, då han fick dispens för avläggande av prästexamen i Härnösands stift. Han prästvigdes i Långsele och tjänstgjorde där samt senare som komminister i Sundsvall till 1923, då han blev sjömanspräst och pastor vid svenska församlingen i Buenos Airel. Efter makans död återflyttade han med sina barn till Sverige 1929 ock tjänstgjorde först i Västerås stift, senare som komminister i Hammerdal och Storsjö församlingar i Jämtland till 1936, då han blev kyrkoherde i Långsele. Där var han i full verksamhet till sin död - predikade så sent sam förra söndagen i sin kyrka. Med sin vackra stämma var W. en utmärkt talare och liturg. Vid högtidliga till-fällen höll han gärna tal på vers. Han var också föredragshållare, höll kurser i engelska och var med sitt genom åren bevarade varma idrottsintresse självskriven IF-ord-förande på de orter, där han var verksam. Närmast sörjande är maka i andra giftet, f. Engström, och fyra barn, döttrarna Birgitta Bank, Stockholm, känd vissångerska i radio, och Ingrid, distriktssjuksköterska i Lapp-land, sönerna Ingemar, nyutnämnd generalsekreterare i Cykelfrämjandet och Svante, brukstjänsteman i Utansjö, Norrland, samt barnbarn. Bland gamla kollegor och vänner liksom bland församlingsbor och i idrottskretsar efterlämnar David Wahlberg minnet av en man med vidöppen famn och hjärta av guld.

[edit]David Wahlberg Dead. The clergyman in Långsele, David E. Wahlberg, has died at age 68. He was born in Ytterlännäs, Angermanland, and was a student in Härnösand. In 1901 Wahlberg studied at Augustana College and at University of Chicago for a Master of Arts. In 1904 he returned to Sweden and worked as a teacher in Stockholm and Norrland before becoming a publisher. After 1910 he worked at the TT News Agency. He then worked at Stockholms Dagblad and was the press commissar at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm. The following year he became the chief editor for Gefle-Posten and had this post until 1916. In that year he trained as a minister in the Diocese of Härnösand. He was ordained in Långsele and served there, and later was the assistant pastor in Sundsvall. In 1923 he became a pastor at the Swedish Assembly in Buenos Aires. After his wife's death he moved with his children to Sweden. In 1929 he served first in Västerås, and later as assistant pastor in Hammerdal and Storsjö congregations in Jämtland until 1936, when he became vicar in Långsele. There he served until his death. With his beautiful voice, he was an excellent speaker and liturgist. He was also a lecturer, and held courses in English and through the years he kept a warm interest in sports. Bereaved is his spouse from his second marriage, and his four children, daughters, Bridget of Stockholm; and Ingrid, a nurse in the Lapp country; son Ingemar, the newly appointed General Secretary of Promotion of Cycling of Utansjö, Norrland; and his grandchildren. His colleagues and friends, as well as his parishioners and sporting friends will remember David Wahlberg as a man with wide-open arms and a heart of gold.
