Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A 1968 Datsun 2000 Roadster, from an era when Japan was known for little more than cut-rate economy cars, seen at the Treasure Island Flea Market in San Francisco. This roadster was the direct ancestor of Nissan's renowned Fairlady, or Z, series of sports cars that followed from the 1970s on. This, the first model year of the 2000 is particularly desirable, with it's unsmogged engine and lower windshield. Nissan's Silvia line of more affordable sports cars were also born from this roadster's platform. Nissan used the "Datsun" brand name until 1983; "DAT" was the acronym for the names of the three founders of today's Nissan, and the name originally was "DATson" or "son of DAT."
