Description
English: Datestone of the Original 1688 Heywood Chapel This Date stone in the South Wall of the present Heywood Chapel commemorates its predecessor on the same site. Oliver Heywood founded the Chapel as a place of worship in the Puritan or Presbyterian style some years after he was removed from the living of Coley for refusing to practice the 'old religion' following the restoration of the Monarchy.
