Summary

Description

Date marked embrasure in British WWII fortification: 1940 in ferrous wire embedded in the concrete. To the best of my knowledge, this feature is unique. The fortification has a large aperture for an anti-tank gun (presumably). In addition, there are a number of standard sized embrasures such as this one and larger one for a heavy maching gun (presumably). There is a large pillbox nearby. Just south of Waverley Mill Bridge.
