| Description |
English: Scene northward from footbridge at north end of Darlington Bank Top station This view is on the ECML at the major junction of Darlington, ex-NER. The Station is to the left, with the Through lines passing on its east side, also the lines serving Bank Top Goods. Ahead on the left is Darlington North Box, opposite which is the Locomotive Yard and beyond is the - relatively new - Power Station. No. 68060 (built 9/45 as WD No. 71467, LNER No. 8060 of 6/46) heading the approaching goods is one of the 382 Ministry of Supply 0-6-0 saddle tanks ordered in 1943 for WD service, being one of 75 purchased by the LNER from those surplus to WD needs after the War - or not yet built. (On the Down Through line is an empties headed by a tender-first 0-8-0). |
