[edit]
Description
English: Dark mantle deposits (probably, resuls of volcanic explosions) on the southern shore of Sinus Aestuum on the Moon. The deposits cover a darker region in the central and lower right part of the image. They are best seen where excavated by small craters. In the lower right corner part of heavily eroded crater Schröter can be seen. View from the south; the mountains on the horizon are Montes Apenninus. Descriptions: Gaddis et al. (1985), Weitz et al. (1998). Photo by Apollo 12 (1969).
