Meantime, our companions had quietly de-scended the stairway, and burst out on theguards. There were seven of them, but theywere so much taken by surprise as to be inca-pable of resistance. Our boys divided into twoparties, one for the front and the other for theback door. The latter was completely success-ful, capturing the guard, and taking their gunsfrom them without the least alarm being given.
