English: Arms of Darcy (Argent, three inescutcheons within a bordure gules) as quartered by Verney, of Compton Verney, Warwickshire (Source: Fetherston, J., ed. (1877). The Visitation of the County of Warwick in the year 1619, taken by William Camden, Clarencieux King of Arms. Harleian Society, 1st ser. 12. London.,p.24, quarterings identified p.xiv[1]).
According to the Peerage of England, Vol.6, 1812, by Arthur Collins & Sir Egerton Brydges, p.694[2] Richard Verney (d.1490) married Eleanor Loutham, daughter and heiress of "John Loutham of Northampton", by whom he had issue Edmind Verney and Anne Verney, wife of Sir Richard Montfort. Arms of Loutham: Three inescutcheons. The arms Argent, three inescutcheons sable quartered by Verney are given as "Loudham" in Fragmenta Genealogica, vol.5, 1889, pp.9-25, p.9, by Crisp, Frederick Arthur[3], blazoned in A Complete Body of Heraldry, Volume 1 By Joseph Edmondson, p.88[4] |
