Description
English: Darat al Funun is a home for the Arts and the artists of Jordan and the Arab world. Overlooking the heart of Amman, Darat al Funun is housed in three traditional buildings of the 1920s, alongside the archaeological remains of a six century Byzantine church built over a Roman Temple, all restored for use.
العربية: أنشأت دارة الفنون العام 1993، لتصبح منبراً يحتضن الفنون البصرية والفنانين من العالم العربي. وتسعى إلى رعاية الإبداع والعمل على نشر الفنون العربية والخطاب النقدي، وإبراز النشاط الحيوي للأفكار المعاصرة والممارسات الفنية على اختلاف أنواعها. تشمل نشاطات دارة الفنون، بالإضافة إلى برنامج المعارض التي تواكب تطورات الفن العربي المعاصر، لقاءات وحوارات مع فنانين، عروض أفلام، فنون أدائية متنوعة، دورات تدريبية وورش في محترفات دارة الفنون، برنامج إقامة للفنانين ولقاءات أدبية وثقافية شهرية. لدارة الفنون نشاط في مجال النشر، كما أنها تدعم الدراسات والبحوث التي تتناول جوانب الفن العربي. تحتوي مكتبة دارة الفنون ما يزيد على ثلاثة آلاف وسبعمائة كتاب ومرجع من أحدث الإصدارات الفنية والمعمارية بالإنجليزية والعربية، إلى جانب أرشيف أفلام وتوثيق معزز بالصور لنشاطاتها، وملفات عن الفنانين العرب، كما تستضيف دارة الفنونأعمال فنية من مجموعة خالد شومان الخاصة.
