ensevelie sous les terresdescendues de la montagne. Elle forme unechambre rectangulaire de 8 mètres de long sur 2 m. 50 de large et 2 mètres de haut. Le sol estrecouvert dune grande épaisseur de débris depierres. Les indigènes y taillent pour leur usageles pierres éboulées. Le fond est formé par uneseule dalle. Lorientation est est-ouest, le fond à lest.Une tombe, qui semble récente, occupe le fond.Les parois sont formées par des pierres considé-rables de plusieurs mètres carrés de surface. Leplafond est formé par trois pierres ayant environ 3 mètres carrés chacune. La couche de terre au-dessus est mince, mais suffisante pour être cul-tivée. A proximité, dans le prolongement à lest, estune pierre debout de 3 mètres de haut. Il y au-rait dans la vallée des traces dautres monumentssemblables, mais ensevelis et servant de carrièresde pierres. Les indigènes disent y avoir trouvédes ossements humains de grande taille, quitombent en poussière dès quon les touche.

ANNEXE 193 MOSSOS Les Mossos sont déjà mêlés aux Tibétainsentre Likiang, leur ancienne capitale, et le Mé-kong. Mais les monts du Litipin, que lon fran-chit avant darriver à Ouisi, sont la frontièrenaturelle entre la Chine et le Tibet. Ouisi est uneville mosso, et les marchands chinois qui sytrouvent se considèrent déjà comme expatriés.De Ouisi à Tsekou, la vallée du Mékong estoccupée par les Mossos. Plus haut, leurs villagessont de plus en plus rares, et le dernier est celuide Poutine, voisin de Yerkalo. Dans le pays de Ouisi, les Mossos se dis-tinguent à peine des Chinois dont ils ont adoptéle costume, les mœurs et en grande partie le lan-gage. De même entre Tsekou et Yerkalo, on nepeut les distinguer des Tibétains. Cest un peuplequi se laisse absorber par ses envahisseurs. Maisentre ces deux courants venant du nord et dusud, il existe un noyau un peu plus intac
